Blush, the gift from heaven!
Today I am addressing my fave makeup product ever! Blush! Its a highly misunderstood tool in your makeup bag of tricks. One of the most asked questions that I get about this Godsend invention is "how am i supposed to put it on?" or "What blush best matches my skin?" Let me first say that I love all colors of blush! i wear the rainbow it just depends on how i'm coordinating the rest of my makeup. My favorite hues are fuschia pinks and a matte true orange color such as MAC's Diablo. It gives you a natural flushed look with a little diva mixed in lol. As long as you feather it on with a light dusting brush. Now with my experience and own expert opinion, blush should generally be applied to the apples of the cheeks and feathered out elsewhere until it fades into the rest of your makeup. It will make your complexion look more alive and just plain ol' pretty. Of course there are techniques to applying blush and or bronzer according to your face shape.. if your talent on tv or film or one of the makeup artists working behind the camera or on some runway show you will of course utilize the art of "contouring" or shading in color to give the illusion of a slimmer face, higher cheekbones ect. If your not a maekup artist but rather an everday consumer of cosmetics and just want to look dolled up with a little blush then my best general technique for your blush application is to use large angled blush brush, dust it lightly in your blush and apply it to the side of your face in a C shape, starting at the temple of your forehead and sweeping downward into your cheeks natural indentation or contour. Most of your color should be deposited in this first action then shake off the excess and start to blend it outward until its just a hint of a sweep of pretty color. As for a color choice, i believe you like pink you can wear it, if you like berry shades, you can wear it. If you like loud and bold shades like me such as a bright hued orange or even blush shades in burgundy you can make it work it just has to be coordinated with the rest of your makeup and be blended so smoothly that you cannot tell where your blush begins or ends. There's a shade of one color that will work for every skintone.. whether you want to believe that you only look nice in "cool" or "warm" colors you can find a shade that flatters you or that your comfortable in. So with that, go play with some color!
