Your Perfect Arch

Whether your eyebrows are naturally thin like mine or you were blessed with a full set or cursed with the infamous Uni-brow, achieving your perfect arch is vital to properly showcasing your best eyes ever! First and foremost, you must tweeze, wax or thread off those unattractive stray hairs that grow and overcrowd you eyelid area like a cluster of weeds in your front yard. They are ugly and distort what otherwise could be a beautiful clean canvas for color and or expression. If you are reading this blog you are either A, very well versed in all things beauty and regularly maintain your eyebrows with a tweezer or with bi-weekly appointments with your esthetician or threader, or B you don't have a clue what to do with your unkempt brows but are desperate or at least curious as to how to begin to wrangle in those caterpillars above your eyes. I would first recommend that your visit a salon or brow bar to have a professional to shape and or maintain your brows as they are the framing spotlight to your face and are very easy to butcher, speaking from experience. This advice goes especially for full brow or uni-brow clients and unless you've had many many practice sessions with those ghastly at home waxing kits and have some how successfully been able to maintain your brows, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND GO TO THE SALON! Alas I know that times are tough and frequent salon visits are just not possible so if you must do it yourself then there's one simple little pointer for getting your ideal brow shape/arch: Before tweezing or waxing, take a pencil or eyeliner whichever is closer and align it to the side of your nose vertically (straight up and down) If there are any hairs poking out to the opposite side of your eyebrow closer to the spot between both brows, those are the hairs that need to be tweezed. Next, rotate the pencil clockwise until it is right above your the iris of your eye, wherever that is, that is where your arch should start, then rotate clockwise again until the pencil is exactly at the end of your outer lash line, that is where your eyebrow should end. Any hairs that lay beyond that point need to be tweezed out and or waxed off. If you want it to be as easy and painless (well maybe not painless) as possible, take a white eyeliner and mark off the areas where you need to remove hair, just a simple quick line through of where your brow should begin and end. then you can lay the pencil down and get to work.

A note to you stubborn tweezer or God forbid razor fans: DO NOT SHAVE OFF YOUR ENTIRE BROW THEN ATTEMPT TO DRAW AN UPSIDE DOWN SMILE IN PLACE OF IT! IT LOOKS RIDICULOUS AND YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS IN IT! Please do not tweeze your brows so thin that your look permanently surprised and be careful not to remove too much hair from the inner or outer tip of the brows.. having your brows too far apart, too close together or too short on the end will make you look incomplete or could give you a false frown look and that is never attractive. I hope that this has enlightened you a little bit, that bad habits will stop and good ones will begin! If you are in the L.A area feel free to email me to book appointments for either makeup or skin care/waxing purposes.
